Chronic pain is exhausting in ways that go far beyond the physical. It affects your sleep, your mood, your relationships, your ability to work and to enjoy your life. It can make you feel like a hostage in your own body. It can create feelings of grief and loss, anger and frustration.

What many people don’t realize is that the mind plays a profound role in how pain is experienced — not because pain is ‘all in your head,’ but because the brain is literally the organ that processes and amplifies pain signals. And the brain is something we can work with.

Hypnotherapy has a well-established history of helping people reduce their experience of chronic pain — including in clinical settings. When the nervous system is calmed and the subconscious relationship with pain is shifted, the experience of pain can change — sometimes dramatically.

How Hypnotherapy Helps with Pain

In a deeply relaxed hypnotic state, the nervous system down-regulates — shifting out of the chronic stress and high-alert state that tends to amplify pain signals. We work directly with the subconscious mind to change the way pain is perceived, processed and responded to.

This isn’t about ignoring pain or pretending it isn’t there. It’s about changing your relationship with it — reducing its volume, the way your mind represents it, loosening its grip on your attention, and reclaiming a sense of agency in your own body.

Coaching supports this work by helping you build awareness of the emotional, mental, and lifestyle patterns that influence your pain experience — and developing practical strategies to support your wellbeing and how you communicate with your body.

What to Expect

Pain management work is deeply individual — what works varies from person to person. We begin with an Initial Session to understand your specific pain experience, its history, and what relief and a better quality of life would mean for you. We discuss how you are communicating with yourself about the pain and immediately begin the retraining.

Many clients notice meaningful shifts within a few sessions. Results build over time with continued work.
